Starting 1 July 2025, the Malaysian Government will implement full enforcement of the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) at the Malaysia-Singapore land border. Foreign vehicle owners are required to register and activate the VEP before entering Malaysia.

What happens if they fail to comply?

For your information, if they fail to do so, they will be issued a summons notice by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and will have to pay a fine of RM300 before leaving the country. Payment of the summons can only be made cashless at the JPJ Office, JPJ Mobile Counter or via online platforms such as myEG.

What is the aim of this permit?

This measure aims to ensure that all foreign vehicles entering Malaysia have valid permits by Section 66H (7), Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333). In addition, this enforcement will ensure compliance with road regulations and improve safety and smooth traffic at the country's border gates.
