Vivo announced as the official sponsor of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup

In a special turn of events, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has made vivo as the official sponsor for the FIFA World Cup 2018 and 2022 as well, making the company to cover two tournament cycles in a row.

It’s not that the FIFA World Cup that will be held in Russia next year, or the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but also the FIFA Confederations Cup for 2017 (which will start on 17 June 2017) and 2021 as well. Moreover, it was also reported that the company will introduce a customized FIFA World Cup phone to offer a one of a kind experience for vivo consumers, football fans, and even the FIFA staff.

This is not the first time for vivo to sponsor a sports tournament, though, since they sponsored the Indian Premier League (IPL) before back in 2015. Then in 2016, they also partnered with NBA China as the official mobile handset sponsor, inviting NBA superstar Stephen Curry as a product ambassador for the vivo Xplay6.
