WWDC 2024 could be software-only

Hoping to see a new Mac PC, Mac mini or MacBook at the upcoming WWDC 2024? Well, you might be disappointed. Recently, Apple confirmed the keynotes and sessions it would host during the conference next week. However, there was no mention of hardware thus far.

While most wouldn't look too deeply into it, Mark Gurman (via AppleInsider) claimed it could be a software-only WWDC 2024 unless Apple pulls a surprise announcement. He also said the next-gen Apple TV might not arrive in the first half of 2024 as first predicted. Instead, the launch could happen much later. For your info, the new Apple TV is expected to offer many new improvements and features, including a built-in camera for FaceTime calls and video conferencing.

Since WWDC is a developer's conference, a software-only event isn't all that unusual. Although Apple has launched products at WWDC before, like last year's new Apple M2-powered Mac Studio, MacBook Air and Mac Pro, there are usually more reports about these products in advance. However, the 2024 WWDC rumour mill isn't churning quite as hard.

To be fair, that's hardly confirmation. Apple could still surprise us at the conference next week, so take the news with a grain of salt. Having said that, what do you expect to see or hear at WWDC 2024? Let us know in the comments below, and please stay tuned for more news like this.
