Most smartwatches are small screen devices that act little better than companion bluetooth devices. They won't work without a smartphone except perhaps track fitness related things. The Rufus Cuff smartwatch on the other hand is similar but with a long and wide 3-inch screen it is anything but small. Designed to work as a wrist communicator, the device is practically a wi-fi tablet for your wrist and comes with tech specs and features that include a GPS, Texas Instruments Cortex A8 ARM processor, 3-inch touchscreen with 400 x 240 resolution, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and a 1000 mAh battery.

By itself, you can use it to run apps and install them from Google Play or take picture or videos. However, it needs a connection with your smartphone to make calls, sms and other mobile phone services but you can make VoIP calls with a WiFi connection. If you're interested in the Rufus Cuff, it is unfortunately an IndieGoGo crowd-funded project which hasn't reached it's $200000 goal yet. However, it also means that you can get the Rufus Cuff for cheap by contributing $249 (RM808). Should the project reach it's goal, you should get the device by September 2014. At the time of writing, the project had already reached $180000 and had another 7 days to go.
