We could see colour-changing smartphones by vivo in the future

A colour-changing smartphone? But why? Well, why not? Found on the forum threads in Weibo, the new technology seem to be developed by vivo and its affiliated company, BBK is responsible for this cool piece of tech. Here's what we know about it so far.

So how does it work? According to sources, the device is using an electrochromic glass so the colour can change instead of viewing it from a different angle. In other words, the user can switch the colour at will from a press of a button. Interestingly, vivo is also covering the rear camera module for some reason and we suspect that this new feature could be part of a new unannounced vivo smartphone in the future.

At the moment, the technology seems to be limited to just two colours so it's not exactly based on a chameleon's skin colour changing ability. Electrochromic glass is also used on aircraft, luxury cars and even curtains for some hotels. On paper, this feature could hide the rear camera module completely so it's a promising one, but it might not even make it.

But what do you think of this new feature? Is it just a gimmick or something that you would like on your smartphone? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
