AnTuTu has recently announced that they will begin benchmarking AI performance, which can be found in quite a number of modern-day smartphones. The number of AI capable smartphone has increased since the start of 2018, which brings plenty of added functionality such as AI scene detection, AI power management and so on.

That being said, AnTuTu is determined to tabulate AI performance as well as weed out phones that come with “fake AI”. The test includes scanning up to 200 images as well as a 600-frame video for scene detection where the results will take into account speed and accuracy.

Do take note that the benchmark is still in development and AnTuTu plans to further improve upon it in the future. It will be interesting how Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 980 will stack up against Samsung's upcoming Exynos 9820 with embedded NPU which will be included in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 series.
