We might be able to use WhatsApp on multiple phones soon with the same account

WhatsApp is undeniably one of the most used social messaging apps in the world, but if there's one thing that everyone can agree on - the app is unable to support multiple devices with the same number or account. This happens a lot especially when Apple iPhone users switch to Android or vice versa, where the user will lose all the chat history and media files. But that could change.

According to reports, it seems that the company is already developing multi-device support for both iOS and Android since November 2019. Discovered by WABetaInfo, they found a "Registration Notification" from a secondary phone, asking for a new security code. Then after digging for some more clues in the newest WhatsApp beta v2.20.110, they were convinced that multi-device support is definitely real after triggering different event messages on the user's E2E security code change.

Nobody really knows when this multi-device support will be available to the public but we hope it will come this year. Telegram, another underrated social messaging app, has already figured this out and allows users to use more than one device without losing any chat history nor media files. It's about time WhatsApp follows the same path.

We will be keeping an eye on this when the update comes, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
