CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau confirmed in an interview that the upcoming OnePlus 7 smartphone will not have wireless charging and with good reason. The OnePlus smartphones have always been about keeping the best features it has while discarding whatever they feel is unnecessary to keep the price of the smartphone low.

Pete Lau claims that the standard charging for the OnePlus series is currently “one of the best”, clearly nodding his approval at OnePlus’s Warp Charge. Currently, Warp Charge is able to top up battery in just 30 minutes and as we all know, wireless charging doesn’t even come close to that in speed.

This doesn’t mean we won’t see wireless charging at all on all other upcoming OnePlus devices. The company has always been actively looking for a way to develop the best version of wireless charging that would benefit its user. Qualcomm has developed their very own Quick Wireless Charge but Pete Lau declined to comment whether the technology may be implemented on future OnePlus devices.

So far, there’s been no word on the upcoming OnePlus 7 device but Pete Lau did mention that they had the device with them at MWC 2019. However, they just weren’t quite ready to show the device to journalists just yet. How do you fee about the OnePlus 7 not having wireless charging?
