In just one week, the number of Bluesky users increased by 33.3% and now it has 20 million users. Previously, the app recorded 15 million users just a week ago. The increase in the number of users is closely related to the migration of X users who left Elon Musk's platform which was seen as problematic.
For your information, Bluesky is a social media platform originally developed within X, formerly Twitter, that evolved into a standalone company in 2022. Bluesky's popularity can be seen on the Play Store and App Store charts with it being at the top of the list for free apps with the highest number of downloads.
Moreover, the migration to Bluesky although good for the platform created problems for the operator with the service being interrupted several times due to high traffic. In addition to the public, several celebrities, brands and sports clubs also announced that they are migrating to Bluesky and will no longer use X.
We have yet to confirm other details on the news. So, we should wait for more confirmation from Bluesky. Based on the current trend, it has yet to pick up growth in Malaysia.
