WhatsApp Beta teases 'Guest Chats' for new user to message without an account

WhatsApp is experimenting with a bold new feature in its latest Android beta (v2.25.22.13): Guest Chats. As the name suggests, this feature is a way to message people who don’t even have a WhatsApp account.

What Are Guest Chats?

According to WABetaInfo, Guest Chats allow WhatsApp users to initiate one-on-one chats with non-users via invite links. That's right, those who don't have WhatsApp, there is no app needed to download or create an account. The guests can just join via a secure browser user interface.

All messages are end-to-end encrypted, maintaining WhatsApp’s privacy standards. And since the guest is just using a temporary guest account, there will be no media sharing (photos, videos, GIFs), no voice/video messages or calls, and no group chat support.

Unlike third-party chat integrations required by EU regulations, Guest Chats are fully native to WhatsApp, offering a seamless experience without relying on external platforms. It’s a strategic move to lower the barrier for new users while keeping control within WhatsApp’s ecosystem.

When Will It Launch?

The feature is still under development and not yet available to beta testers. But it signals WhatsApp’s intent to expand its reach and simplify onboarding for non-users. Until then, do stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
