Throughout this period, Zoom is probably the most popular platform for people to make online meetings and conference calls. That status might change in the future, as WABetainfo.com just found out that the WhatsApp team is developing Beta Calls on the WhatsApp Web/Desktop version as we speak.

Promptly called WhatsApp Calls, the beta program will be rolling out to selected users randomly. This makes sense because with the number of people working from home, many have also downloaded WhatsApp Web/Desktop to communicate easier instead of having to refer to their phones. From the screenshot, the new features will appear on top of the chat with the video and call icon.

Sources report that if you accept an incoming voice or call on WhatsApp Web/Desktop, a new small window will pop-up and have an online conversation there. As aforementioned, the beta is rolling out now and only a few people can get to try it out. We expect this feature to be official once WhatsApp Calls is ready.

So what do you think of this? This is definitely a convenient way for users who don't have an official Zoom membership and they can just use WhatsApp Calls for free. Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
