Two months ago, the WhatsApp team was working on Multi-Device support and it's finally available. Well, sort of - although the function has been rolled out to both Android and iOS devices, the Multi-Device is still labelled as a beta in the WhatsApp settings.

Anyway, in case you missed out on what is this Multi-Device feature, it is a new way for a WhatsApp user to link up to four devices without needing to be connected via a smartphone. If you enable it, you can send and receive messages with the WhatsApp desktop app or web-based service and your phone doesn't even need to stay online. However, it's not possible to delete a message or conversation through this.

On top of that, if your WhatsApp on your phone is outdated, you won't be able to use it. The WhatsApp team also ensures all personal calls and messages through the Multi-Device feature remain end-to-end encrypted. It's also noted that your linked devices will be disconnected if you don't use your phone within 14 days.

Since the Multi-Device is still in beta, there may be still some performance bugs or whatnot. If you would like to try it out, you just need to enter the Settings page -> Linked Devices -> Multi-Device Beta -> Join Beta. You can always leave the beta anytime.

An iPad version is in the works too so we should be expecting to see that feature one day. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
