WhatsApp have announced that they will be rolling out several new security features in the coming months. This includes, Account Protect, Device Verification and Automatic Security Codes.
First of all, Account Protect is used when you switch your WhatsApp account to a new device. It will then ask you to verify that it’s really you using your old device first, to avoid any unauthorized attempts at moving your WhatsApp account.
Device Verification on the other hand includes additional checks to authenticate your account while the Automatic Security Codes checks if you’re actually talking to the correct contact. This is done by manually checking the encryption tab under a contact’s info, to make sure that the conversation is secure.
WhatsApp has not given any specific Malaysia release dates for these extra security features but they did say the “next few months”. So, just be patient and wait for the rollout. Would these features be enough to convince you about WhatsApp’s security? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
