WhatsApp Launches Native iPad App with Enhanced Multitasking and Privacy Features
KUALA LUMPUR, 28 May 2025 –
After a very long time, WhatsApp has officially introduced its long-awaited native app for iPad. This release addresses a significant demand from users seeking a dedicated tablet experience for years, and it has finally arrived, but how different is it from a regular iPhone app?
According to the WhatsApp team, the WhatsApp iPad version still features core functionalities, such as messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, and file transfers. Notably, it supports group calls with up to 32 participants, screen sharing, and utilises both front and rear cameras. The app is also optimised for iPadOS, integrating multitasking features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, allowing users to operate WhatsApp alongside other applications seamlessly.
Additionally, its compatibility extends to accessories such as the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The WhatsApp iPad version leverages the social media messaging multi-device technology, including synchronising chats, calls, and media across devices, including iPhone and Mac, while maintaining end-to-end encryption. Privacy measures like chat lock, will provide users with conversation controls, particularly on shared devices.
The WhatsApp for iPad app is now available for download from the Apple App Store from today onwards. So make sure to visit the store on your iPad and get it started. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
