If you find that you're running out of storage often, it would be great to know what you can delete to make space. That's why WhatsApp has been working on this area, as media files can pile up in your phone through the app relatively fast. A reliable source has revealed some news about the new tools for Storage Usage.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is already testing the new features, which can be found under the Storage Usage section of the app. Currently, what it does is show you the different chats you have and how much storage they're using. From there, you can choose which a chat group and click "Free Up Space" to delete all media files in that group.

But that's not ideal, so most of the time you'll want to manage your files manually via a file explorer app. With the new tools WhatsApp has been working on, you'll be able to use a filter to find all files that are large or were forwarded. You'll also be able to see how much space is being taken up by media files in WhatsApp, sort the files by type, and possibly more.

Having more control over what you can delete directly from WhatsApp is great, so this is a feature that many will likely be looking forward to.
