When you're in a group chat, it can sometimes be difficult to track who's talking to whom. This is notable in apps like WhatsApp when someone is replying to a message, while another active conversation is happening. However, WhatsApp has begun testing a solution to this problem.
Message threads in groups
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has rolled out a new "threaded message replies" feature. With this feature, replies will be recorded under the original message in a dedicated thread in chronological order. This helps users better track who's responding to a specific discussion and can greatly help groups stay organised, which is more relevant for companies or work groups. For context, it's similar to the way threads work on Reddit.

When replying to messages in a thread, users can also choose to respond to the most recent message or another message in the thread. The subsequent reply will appear as a "Follow-up reply" to denote a message replying to another reply in the thread, rather than the original message. Users can also open a thread to see the conversation or discussion in full, with other messages in the group filtered out for clarity.
Still in beta
Currently, threaded message replies are available for Android (2.25.25.7) and iOS (25.25.10.70). Although the date for the official app update wasn't announced, WhatsApp will roll out the feature to more users in the coming weeks, so those with access to the beta apps can test it in advance.
