WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that will allow you to receive messages from unknown numbers through a "message requests" folder. So, what should you know about it?

You will have 2 options for your privacy settings

According to a WABetaInfo report, the "Who can message me" privacy setting offers two main options to you. The first option, "Everyone", is the default setting for all accounts. When selected, any new messages from unknown numbers will continue to appear in the chat list.

Moreover, this allows you to receive and read messages from anyone without restrictions. Meanwhile, the "My Contacts" option gives you more control. When enabled, new messages from numbers not in the contact list will not appear in the "Chats" tab. Instead, they will be automatically moved to the "Requests" folder.

Besides that, this message request folder works similarly to the "Requests" feature on Instagram. Messages from unknown numbers will appear in this folder, and users can choose to reply, delete the conversation, report, or block the sender. Currently, the feature is still under active development and is expected to be introduced in a future update.
