Popular messaging app WhatsApp may be adding a new way to to find updates and interact with all your group chats within a single tab. Called the ‘Communities’ tab, it is currently being tested by the platform on its latest beta version on both iOS and Android.

So, what is this communities tab all about? Well, it is basically a tab to view all your WhatsApp groups together. From the look of it, the tab is also replacing the camera tab currently found on the latest version of WhatsApp.

As shared by wabetainfo, if you open the new tab without having any group chats available, it will go into detail about what the communities tab is all about. The explanation reads, “Communities bring related groups together. Any community you create or get added to will appear here.”

wabetainfo further revealed that a community would also allow users to reach everyone at once by sending messages to all their members. However, this is only if you’re an admin of the community.

For now, no time frame was revealed for the release of this feature in the full WhatsApp app version. In fact, like many other features tested in the beta version, it may not actually see the light of day.

Well, only one way to find out whether this feature would be added to WhatsApp in the future or not, which is to wait for that future to arrive. One thing’s for certain though, we will be there to report on the new feature if it comes, so make sure to always stay tuned to TechNave.
