"Wait a minute...but we already have WhatsApp for desktop, right?" That's what we thought too, but the WhatsApp team is developing something far more than that. In case you didn't know, they are developing a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) for both Windows and macOS.

The UWP is quite a big deal for Windows users because it shall serve as a standalone app that's different from the current WhatsApp Desktop. It would function more or less the same but with one major difference - it supports multi-device so you don't always need your phone online to work.

As for macOS Catalyst, it's also in development which is said to look similar to the Windows version and on the iPad as well. Moreover, those who have the iPad and macOS Catalyst will be able to support the compatibility. This was made possible thanks to the blessings from Apple who allowed the team to work on a standalone version.

There's no official release date for macOS yet, so we will need to wait patiently. However, you can try out the new WhatsApp beta app from Microsoft's page right here. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
