Now that Multi-Device is on WhatsApp, the next thing that's important for users would be authentication. After all, you won't want someone to get access to your chat by stealing your phone or laptop, right? Well, that's currently something the company is working on.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp plans to bring two-step verification to desktop and laptop PCs. Specifically, the feature would apply to the PC and web version of WhatsApp. Once this feature is implemented, WhatsApp will ask you for a 6-digit code whenever you register a new device. You will also have to enter a PIN to log in to your account.

As you can tell, this type of 2-step authentication provides better security for your online accounts. It's like the TAC you need to key in when you do an online banking transaction. Since it's a PC app, WhatsApp could also make it work with other Windows authentication features like Windows Hello.

So, do you think this form of security is good enough? What else do you think these companies can do to improve app security? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
