WhatsApp may soon allow users to switch between multiple accounts on one device

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp may be adding a feature that users have always been asking for. Spotted in its latest Android beta version, WhatsApp is currently testing a multi-account feature on the app.

Shared by WABetaInfo, the feature allows users to switch between multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device. This essentially makes clone apps obsolete for the messaging app and a welcomed development for those having more than one phone number on WhatsApp.

Based on the screenshot by WABetaInfo, changing to another account is similar to how it is done on Facebook and Instagram. This comes as no surprise though, as all three platforms are owned by Meta.

The multi-account feature was part of WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.13.5, meaning that it’s far from being perfect. Furthermore, like other features tested in beta, it remains to be seen whether it would make it to the full version of the app.
