According to TechCrunch, WhatsApp is currently developing a new feature that aims to limit the number of messages that can be sent in a new conversation when the recipient has not responded. So, what should you know about it?
The feature will not affect existing conversations
For your information, all messages sent by consumers and businesses to other individuals will count towards the monthly limit, unless the message is replied to. For example, if someone sends three messages to a new contact, it will count towards the limit.
Moreover, you will receive notifications when they are close to reaching or have exceeded their monthly message limit, allowing for clearer and more controlled monitoring of message activity. However, this feature will not affect existing conversations, and users can still reply to messages as usual.
Instead, this measure is designed to target individuals and businesses that send mass messages and cause disruption through spam messages and unwanted communications.
Moreover, the feature is still in testing and WhatsApp has not revealed the exact number of limits that will be used. The test is expected to be rolled out in several countries in the coming weeks.
