Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp was recently spotted testing a new ‘Newsletter’ feature in the latest beta version of its Android app. As the name suggests, the feature allows users to subscribe to newsletters from their favourite channel’s broadcasts.
Spotted by WABetaInfo, the feature is placed in the Status tab and will have a dedicated space. Moreover, users can search for the newsletter by username and unsubscribe at any time.
With the addition of Newsletter, it seems that the UI for the status tab has been tweaked. Status updates from your contacts are now placed horizontally rather than vertically, similar to how it is on Instagram.
Given that the feature is still in beta, (beta v2.23.5.8 on Android to be exact), it is unclear when Newsletter will be ported to the full version of WhatsApp. Well, be sure to stay tuned to TechNave for the latest development on this as well as the latest trending tech news.
