Having WhatsApp groups for various reasons like a working chat group or group projects are the norm but sometimes it can get annoying with the number of spam messages. Just recently, WABetainfo just found out that the WhatsApp team is working on a new Communities function for that.

Currently in the Test Flight Beta program, WhatsApp Communities is a new private group chat where group admins have more control. It's said that group admins can link other groups in the Community for convenience as well as send announcements to keep them updated.

How is this any different from simply making a new group chat, though? Well, the sources didn't say much but we assume that the announcements would be less "spammy". On top of that, it's also said that "it will be possible to reach everyone at once by sending messages to all participants of those groups linked to the community".

Since it's designed and intended to be a private place, the people in Communities are protected by end-to-end encryption. WhatsApp Communities is in WhatsApp Beta for Android but no news yet for iOS. Guess we will just have to wait and see. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
