It seems that a tweet by @WABetaInfo revealed that WhatsApp could be working on allowing users to alter the playback speed on voice messages in the near future. While not much is known in regards to when the feature will be publicly available, it does give us a better idea of what to expect when it is officially available.
To go into more detail regarding the feature, it seems that users are able to choose between 1.0x, 1.5x and 2.0x playback speed, allowing them to listen to the message more quickly. With that being said, it looks like a feature that’s extremely useful for those who constantly have to listen to voice messages of someone who loves to ramble.
With all that said, do take some of the information with a grain of salt, due to the fact that the developers of WhatsApp have yet to provide an official statement on the leaked info.
