The renowned Facebook-owned, instant-messaging titans, WhatsApp has recent updated their policy on the company’s website, stating that older Android versions will continue to receive support and services from WhatsApp until 2020.
Initially, WhatsApp has reported that supports will cease for Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 by the end of 2016. However, their recent website update has shown that they have made a whole U-turn and decided to continue support for older Androids from up to Android 2.3.7 until February 2020.
This spells good news for those vintage Android users and your dearest aunties, uncles and grandparents who simply cannot part from their ancient Android devices as they will be able to continue using the instant-messaging wonder app, WhatsApp.
Keep in mind that even though older Androids may still receive continued support, they may not enjoy all the latest WhatsApp features as the company no longer actively develops for those platforms. No more new Emojis.
