Update: It seems that users will in fact be losing some functionalities if they refuse to accept the privacy policy. The details can be found here.

Hard-handed approaches could make some people push back harder, something WhatsApp is finding that out the hard way. Even though users would have their accounts deactivated, the company still failed to get people to agree to its new privacy policy. That's probably why its plans have changed.

If you recall, WhatsApp made changes to its privacy policy which allowed it to share data with other Facebook companies. It was soon revealed that those who failed to accept the new policy would be locked out of the app. Specifically, you wouldn't be able to read or send messages via the app. The company will also delete inactive accounts after 120 days.

However, the company has decided to make a U-turn on that decision. According to Wccftech, users will now no longer lose access to the app. Their accounts won't be deleted either, even if they don't accept the new policy. Of course, WhatsApp will continue to send reminders to users about it.

With that said, have you accepted WhatsApp's new data privacy policy? If you decided to switch to a new app, which one are you using now? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
