Many Malaysians use online banking regularly now, making payments and transferring money through the Internet. E-wallets can also do that, which is why many have begun to use them. But it seems some people think you should be able to do transactions via messaging apps like WhatsApp too.
In fact, WhatsApp launched WhatsApp Pay last year to do just that. The feature allows users to send and receive money through the app, though it's currently available only in Brazil and India. According to WABetaInfo, the company is working on a shortcut button for WhatsApp Pay on iOS devices.

To send money, all you have to do is tap on the icon next to the message input bar. Currently, the feature is only available to beta testers in India but is expected to roll out to other regions in the future. WhatsApp has been working on a lot of other things lately, like formerly adding an iPad version of WhatsApp, Disappearing messages, Multi-device, and more.
Back on topic, it's hard to say if WhatsApp Pay will ever be a thing here, as Malaysias are more used to online banking and e-wallets. But if WhatsApp Pay lets us send money without any taxes or charging a service fee, maybe the feature could be successful. What do you think?
