When fantasy become reality - A short story by Malaysia's Streamline Studios on co-developing Final Fantasy XV

One of the most anticipated games of the year, Final Fantasy XV will be launching soon worldwide next month. Gamers and FF fans probably know this already, but did you know that Streamline Studios, a local game development studio in Malaysia was also deeply involved?

Streamline Studios is currently the largest game development studio in Malaysia with a wealth of experience from over 200 AAA creative collaborations, they have been involved in many projects such as Bioshock Infinite, Star Citizen, Gears of War, Avatar and Street Fighter V. With such an impressive resume, it's no wonder Square Enix got Streamline into the development back in July 2016 to provide premium development services work on Final Fasntasy XV.

At a media briefing today, Alexander L. Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer of Streamline Studios said “Streamline prides itself on constantly innovating and pushing the boundaries to become one of the world’s leaders in global game development. We’ve invested in creating an environment of the best global talents, technology, and creativity and that’s where it’s gotten us today. Our team are honoured to be working together with Square Enix on the development of such a renowned series as FINAL FANTASY”.

Commenting on the partnership between Streamline Studios and Square Enix, Hasnul Hadi Samsudin, Director of Creative Multimedia Division at Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) enthused, “Streamline has proven that Malaysian studios have the capability and capacity to develop high quality games at an international level. The world is sitting up and taking notice of our local talents, and we expect to see more collaborations like Square Enix and Streamline Studios in the future.”

Fernandez added “Streamframe was invented out of necessity by Streamline Studios with the aim of increasing productivity and providing transparency to clients, so that we can be held accountable for our work. With Streamframe you're given the ability to sit down and work next to someone from the other side of the world."

According to the South East Asia Game Industry Initiative study published in 2016, the South East Asian games industry has fastest growth rate of any geographical region, currently flourishing and projected to grow by 30% between 2015 and 2018. In comparison, the global growth rate is estimated at 7% for the same period, this proves games market in South East Asia provides vast opportunities for the industry to capitalize upon.
