Another EV brand from China has made its way into the Malaysian market. Known as Wuling, an automotive brand under SAIC-GM-Wuling, has just recently made a partnership agreement with Tan Chong Motor (TCM) at TCM’s Segambut plant in Kuala Lumpur. Transport Minister Anthony Loke witnessed the signing ceremony.

In Malaysia, the EV brand is branded as TQ Wuling, led by the Wuling Bingo, which was locally assembled at the Segambut facility. There is no official price tag yet, but it is expected to be priced below RM100,000. We won't see this EV so soon, though, as it is scheduled to launch in Q4 2025. Speaking of that, Binguo (different spelling) is already being sold in Indonesia with two variants.

There is a long-range model, featuring a 31.9-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that can reach up to 333 km in the Chinese CLTC cycle. Meanwhile, the premium model reaches up to 410 km on a 37.9-kWh battery. The two models have the same electric motor rated at 68 PS (50 kW) and 150 Nm. In Indonesia, the two models are priced at 310,000,000 Rupiah (~RM79K) and 345,000,000 Rupiah (~RM88K).

According to sources, Bingo is even more affordable in Thailand, ranging from 399,000 baht (~RM50K) to 429,000 baht (RM54K). Having affordable EVs for Malaysia is important, and since the Bingo will be locally manufactured with Malaysian-sourced components, Tan Chong Motor said it can improve supply chain efficiency and lower production costs.

We expect more details to be revealed when the launch window comes nearer. Until then, stay tuned for the official news only at TechNave.com.
