Most of the fingerprint scanners from smartphones utilize optical sensors. Unlike Samsung, the brand has been using ultrasonic fingerprint sensors from the start. A new report has arrived claiming that Xiaomi will also join the party by equipping future flagships with ultrasonic sensors, and what comes to our mind is the Xiaomi 12 series.
If the report were accurate, this wouldn't be the first time for Xiaomi to use an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, but it would be the first time for it to be under the display. Ultrasonic fingerprint scanners are more secure than optical ones, so this would probably be one of the features Xiaomi is after. Furthermore, ultrasonic scanners that were slow back then have been improved by Samsung over the years with each new flagship. Therefore, Xiaomi might have decided to jump on the bandwagon since the technology is also faster and more stable now.
Other than that, the same tipster has also claimed that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will include a 1/1.5-inch periscope camera with 5x optical zoom support. With all the tech specs leaked, we really can't wait to see how Xiaomi 12 will define the new generation of the Xiaomi flagship series.
