The latest leak from the Weibo site reveals the camera specifications for the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Pro model. The device will feature a triple camera setup on the back similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Pro. That said, what should you know about it?
For your information, the main sensor will use the OV50K while the 3x telephoto sensor will use the IMX882. The OV50K sensor is reported to be 1 inch which is a significant improvement from the 1/1.31 inch sensor on the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The new sensor incorporates lateral overflow integration capacitor (LOFIC) technology to provide high dynamic range (HDR) capabilities comparable to the human eye even in challenging lighting conditions.
Despite the advanced capabilities of the OV50K sensor, the telephoto sensor is reportedly less effective in digital zoom clarity than the OV64b and has lower power consumption. The Xiaomi 15 Pro's telephoto sensor represents an improvement over the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor on the Xiaomi 14 Pro with improvements in sensor and aperture switching.
The new design also includes a square-shaped camera module in the upper left corner with the flash placed outside the camera island due to space constraints. There are possible improvements to the lens used with this sensor. Apart from the impressive rear camera setup, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will feature a 2K micro-curved screen on the front and is expected to launch around mid-October.
It will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Although detailed information about the Xiaomi 15 series is still limited, more information is expected to emerge as the launch date draws closer.
