Earlier this month, Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship series smartphones at MWC 2025. As Xiaomi's annual photography flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra shines by delivering a flagship mobile photography experience with its Leica Summilux optical lens, next-generation HyperOS 2 AI features, ultra-bright WQHD+ screen, and Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0.

Be it professional photography, video capture, or AI productivity, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra possesses the cutting-edge tech to impress. And today, we'd like to give you an overview of the phone's powerful camera capabilities.

AI photography and video

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra sports the latest generation Leica Summilux optical lens. It has better light intake, more accurate colour reproduction, and excellent optical anti-reflection so photos can remain clear and sharp in various lighting environments. The main camera is a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor that supports 23mm, 28mm, and 35mm three-stage zoom. It also has a dynamic range of up to 14EV, allowing it to retain rich details even in low-light environments.

Additionally, the Xiaomi AISP 2.0 further improves image details, colour performance and portrait optimisation. It even supports step-less focal length adjustment (23mm-135mm) and an f/0.95 ultra-large aperture blur effect, which makes portrait shooting more natural and vivid.

For long-distance shots, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra uses a 200MP Leica super-telephoto lens paired with a Samsung HP9 camera sensor. This camera can take in 136% more light, provides ultra-high detail resolution at a focal length of 100mm, and supports 200mm optical zoom so you can capture distant scenes more clearly and sharply. In addition, the 70mm Leica floating telephoto lens supports 10cm ultra-macro shooting, allowing users to shoot more creative portrait and macro photos.

Moving on to videos, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra supports 4K 120fps movie-level slow-motion recording and 8K ultra-high-definition video. Moreover, you can record in Dolby Vision 4K 60fps at all focal lengths. Combined with the upgraded Ultra Image Stabilization anti-shake technology, you can enjoy stable and smooth video captures even without a gimbal.

Flagship performance and display

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra uses the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship chipset, a massive upgrade over previous mobile processors. Its CPU has a core clock speed of up to 4.32GHz for faster CPU performance and promises a 44% improvement in GPU performance. It also delivers 80TOPS in AI performance, a notable upgrade over its predecessor. In practical terms, this chipset will perform well in gaming, imaging, and multitasking. To keep the phone stable for longer hours, Xiaomi has equipped it with a 3D IceLoop dual-channel liquid cooling system. This cooling system has a 13% larger heat dissipation area, allowing the phone to maintain low temperatures even for high-load tasks.

Battery-wise, a 5410mAh ensures the phone can run for hours on end. The phone also supports 90W wired fast charging and 80W wireless fast charging, which can be fully charged to 80% in 40 minutes. Thanks to the Xiaomi Surge battery management system, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is also expected to have better charging efficiency and longer battery life.

Another highlight of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is its display. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3200×1440 and a peak brightness of up to 3200 nits, so you can view the screen clearly even under direct sunlight. It also supports a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, resulting in a smooth visual experience. On top of that, the screen is certified for TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker Free and Circadian Friendly, ensuring that long-term use is more eye-friendly and comfortable. Under the display, Xiaomi included an ultrasonic fingerprint reader that's 50% faster than traditional optical fingerprint readers and can even accurately read wet fingerprints.

Xiaomi HyperOS 2

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra runs on the Xiaomi HyperOS 2, which has a new Xiaomi HyperAI that supports AI voice recognition, AI text polishing, AI screen expansion and other features to improve productivity. For example, the AI writing assistant can optimise text, AI recording transcription can accurately record voice, and AI voice translation makes cross-language communication more convenient. In addition, AI image enhancement and AI reflection removal make photo editing more intelligent.

If that's not enough, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra also supports Google Gemini. This AI assistant has useful features that allow you to search via image, generate summaries of websites, and more.

Craftsmanship and design

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra maintains that classic camera appearance and is available in three colours: black, white, and silver. Those who want something slightly more special can go for the silver version, which has aerospace-grade fibreglass and a retro PU leather back. Combined with the classic viewfinder design, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra looks pretty and feels durable.

In addition, the phone features Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0, which provides 16 times more drop-resistant than its predecessor. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating to ensure it can work in wet and dusty environments. In addition, Xiaomi is using a new Xiaomi Guardian Structure 2.0, which features a high-strength aluminium alloy frame to effectively improve the impact resistance of the entire device.
