Previously, we shared how Xiaomi reportedly has the exclusive 1st launch rights for the next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, with the Xiaomi 15 series touted as the first smartphone with the chipset. Now, more information has emerged regarding the SoC and the device’s launch date.
As reported by GizmoChina which sourced reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has a “2+6” core architecture. The 2 in particular refers to a pair of high-performance cores with clock speeds of 3.6GHz to 4.9GHz.
The tipster added that the other 6 cores are efficiency cores, though their clock speeds weren’t revealed. He did claim however that the next-gen SoC scores around 2700 on single-core and 10000 on multi-core in Geekbench 6.
Digital Chat Station also revealed that the 1st smartphone with the chipset will be launched in mid-October, so in a way, he alluded to the Xiaomi 15 series launch in that time frame. Of course, do take this with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet.
