As you may know, Xiaomi fancies itself as the "make everything" company. Besides smartphones, it sells a variety of other electronics such as electric shavers (lol) and smart speakers. Yesterday, the company announced that a new smart home camera will be launching soon.

According to Gizmochina, the MIJIA Smart AI Camera will be available on Xiaomi starting 20 January 2021 for 499 yuan (~RM311). This is an enhanced version of the MIJIA Smart Camera Standard Edition launched in 2019. It has a 3MP camera with 2304x1296 resolution and IP65 resistance, so it can be installed outdoors if that's what you need. Moreover, there's a magnetic base for you to stick it to metal surfaces like refrigerators.

A major feature of the new model is its AI capability. It comes with a 4T algorithm chip, which helps the camera detect the user or user's pet via AI. In addition to that, the smart camera can generate videos automatically. The new model also allows users to connect to it via Bluetooth, so you can view the data through the MIJIA app.

Not everyone in Malaysia uses a smart home camera, but there's a market for it so it could come here eventually. Having said that, do you use an IP camera like this for your home? Let us know why you use them in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
