The Xiaomi Mi 12 is reported to be among the first smartphones to use a new RAM technology when it gets released. According to the source, the flagship smartphone could feature the latest LPDDR5X RAM unveiled by JEDEC yesterday, accompanied by the unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 processor.

The LPDDR5X is double what the LPDDR4X can do by pushing the maximum data rate from 6,400 Mbps of the vanilla LPDDR5 to 8,533 Mbps. It is expected that the upcoming Snapdragon will support the X version of the RAM as the current Qualcomm chipsets only support the standard LPDDR5.

Besides supporting a new RAM technology, the Snapdragon 898 is also said to be based on the new ARMv9 architecture using the brand new Cortex-X2, A710 and A510 CPU cores. With such a processor, the Xiaomi Mi 12 is on the road to being a flagship king of 2022, alongside other rumoured features like a 200MP camera and 200W wired fast charging.
