Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 SE & Explorer Edition revealed with world's first Dual GPS, Infrared Face Unlock and more from ~RM1118

Finally, the day has arrived for the Xiaomi Mi 8. Not only did the Mi 8 was unveiled, but so as the rumoured Mi 8 Special Edition and a surprised Mi 8 Explorer Edition got announced too. But first, we will take a look at the Mi 8 and what it has to offer.

To start off, the Mi 8 comes in three variants - 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 6GB + 256GB. With that, the following prices are 2699 Yuan (~RM1676), 2999 Yuan (~RM1863) and 3299 Yuan (~RM2049) respectively. Meanwhile, the limited Explorer Edition is 3699 Yuan (~RM2297) and it seriously looks cool.

On to the tech features, Infrared Face Unlock is said to be able to scan your face in the dark without the display's lighting, this probably explains why the notch is as fat as the iPhone X. The Mi 8 also has a special dual GPS technology, which is one of its first kind, this basically means that the device's GPS navigation is stronger and precise. Of course, as most new phones nowadays, it also has scene detections with a 4-in-1 pixel and Optical Image Stabilizer. It's worth mentioning that DxOMark gave 99 score points too.

By the way, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition is more or less the same as the Mi 8, the only difference is that it runs on 8GB + 128GB memory capacity, has an in-display Fingerprint Scanner, 3000mAh battery pack (Quick Charge 4+ technology) and a 5.88-inch AMOLED display in FHD+ 2248 x 1080 resolution. On the other hand, the Mi 8 SE features the world's first Snapdragon 710 chipset, 5.88-inch AMOLED display, a dual 12MP + 5MP AI-powered rear camera, 20MP front camera, and a 3120mAh battery pack.
