The Xiaomi Mi Band 1S is currently on sale at RM65 only at its launch, which is just slightly more expensive than the price of its predecessor the Xiaomi Mi Band was when it first launched. Weighing at only 5.5 grams and measuring 37mm x 13.6mm x 9.9mm; this little fella is light as a feather (metaphorically speaking). The battery power has increased from 41 mAh to 45 mAh and previously the Mi Band could last 30 days so the Mi Band 1S should be able to last longer. However, there are some new features that might sap away its longevity or remains the same (we shall see).

The Mi Band 1S does what it does best like any smartwatch/band, it can track your heart rate via smartphone, records your sleeping duration, calculates your calories when you exercise, and counts every step you take and every move you make (ok, I made the last one up but it really does count your steps daily).

Not only can the Mi Band 1S pair with any Android smartphone (must be at least 4.4), but it can also pair with an Apple iPhone as well (iOS 7 and above). You can actually use your smartband to unlock your Xiaomi phone (not tested on other brands yet), and in return the smartphone can also send you a notification back too via vibration/LED notifications. You can even wear it when you go swimming, as the device is equipped with an IP67 rating which means you can take it for a swim under 3 feet of water for 30 minutes.

It’s very likely that Mi Band S1 won’t be on promotion sale during the 11 November Mi Single’s Day in Malaysia, but anything can happen so until then we will keep you in the loop!
