The Xiaomi Mi Band series is one of the most popular tech wearables due to its affordability, but as time goes by, the company needed to do something special for the 5th edition and they certainly did. Compared with the previous generation, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has some new features starting from ~RM113. Let's check it out.

As you can see from the cover image, the Mi Band 5 now sports four different face dials which include Hatsune Miku, Detective Conan, Evangelion and even SpongeBob Squarepants. On top of that, the band display size got increased and it's now 1.1-inch allowing you to view more information. Speaking of information, there is now 11 professional sports mode that you can do now like yoga, skipping rope, indoor cycling and many more.

Heart Rate tracking also makes a return which isn't surprising and it now uses Sp02 (blood oxygen saturation) measurement, same goes to the sleep rate monitoring with a built-in sensor providing more accurate data to the app on the phone. But what's surprising though, is that the Mi Band 5 has a menstrual cycle tracking system for the female users. This will definitely help female users to better understand their menstrual conditions.

Another new addition to the Mi Band 5 is allowing users to control the phone camera and it can only be done after syncing up via a Mi app. The battery life is still more or less the same, able to standby up to 14 days (results may vary on usage) and supports magnetic charging. In terms of pricing, it costs 189 Yuan (~RM113) and the NFC version costs 229 Yuan (~RM137).

The Mi Band series is quite popular in Malaysia so we should be expecting to see Xiaomi Malaysia importing the Mi Band 5 here soon. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
