As expected by Xiaomi fans, the company held a big launch event for several products. Among them is the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, a successor to the Xiaomi Mix Flip introduced last year. What's new in the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 and what features does it offer? Read on for some details.
Tech specs and features
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 looks similar to its predecessor but offers enough to appeal to those who want a new flip-style foldable smartphone. It has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of internal storage. As you can see, its performance is definitely better than the Xiaomi Mix Flip.

In terms of design, the Mix Flip 2 uses a new "Keel Hinge" that's said to make the folding crease almost invisible. It's slimmer at 7.57mm but slightly heavier at 199g, possibly due to the larger 5165mAh battery (vs 4780mAh). Regardless, the differences are negligible and shouldn't affect the user experience. But the new hinge sounds promising, so let's see how it performs in the long term.
The other components are mostly the same, with minor improvements here and there. The main screen is still a 6.86-inch display, but the cover screen is just a hair larger (4.01-inch vs 4-inch) with a higher peak brightness of 3200 nits. More importantly, Xiaomi is promising wider app support for its cover screen, allowing users to "use it like your regular screen".

Price and availability
Xiaomi hasn't confirmed the global or Malaysia launch for the Xiaomi Mix Flip. However, last year's Mix Flip launched here in September, so we may get a similar launch window. The 12GB+256GB Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 costs 5999 yuan (~RM3536), while the 12GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB variants are priced at 6499 yuan (~RM3831) and 7299 yuan (~RM4302).
For reference, the 12GB+512GB Xiaomi Mix Flip retailed in Malaysia for RM4999, so we expect prices to be closer to that. We'll wait for Xiaomi Malaysia to confirm the details, so stay tuned to TechNave for more updates.
