This year, smartphone manufacturers might be taking the megapixel fight to another level. According to this new report, Xiaomi could make the first move to release a device with a 200MP camera, and the device in question claimed to be the Xiaomi Note 11.

The world's first-ever 200MP sensor is from Samsung. Last week, OmniVision also showed its take on the technology by presenting the 200MP OVB0B sensor. After that, rumours started coming out by saying that the first device that uses the sensor would be Xiaomi.

If it's Xiaomi, there's a higher chance for the sensor to land on the Xiaomi Note 11. Back then, the Chinese company launched the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro / Xiaomi Mi Note 10 as the world's first smartphone with a 108MP camera, so it makes sense for the successor to arrive with such achievement.

To get technical with OmniVision's 200MP sensor, it has an optical format of 1/1.28-inch, and the size of each pixel is 0.61 µm. Through pixel binning technology, the sensor allows users to take clear and detailed images in the dark with a resolution of 12MP. It is also the first image sensor to use the entire area for smooth and fast autofocus performance.
