According to sources, it is confirmed that Xiaomi will be releasing two new smartphones on 7 December 2017 and most probably in their home-based, China. The two smartphones are to be called the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus and apparently, popular pop band SNH48 will be introducing the models as seen in the cover image above.

Knowing Xiaomi's reputation, the device is likely to be very affordable and it's speculated that it will be as low as 1000 Yuan (~RM618). This is backed up by the poster's headline translation saying "A phone for a thousand". We wondered what kind of tech-specs is the Redmi 5 carrying, so we went some searching and found the tech-specs listed from TENAA.

Meanwhile, the Redmi 5 Plus - as the name suggests is the bigger one and it won't have that many differences except for the display and battery size which comes in 5.99-inch FHD+ display (2160 x 1080 pixels) and a humongous 4000mAh battery size. Other than that, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM, either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, the same 12MP and 5MP for the back and front, lastly, running on Android Nougat right out of the box.

We don't how much the Redmi 5 Plus might cost, but the reveal isn't that far off. Also, it will be available in black and silver, whereas the Redmi 5 will come in a wide variety of colours - black, rose gold, gold, white, blue, red, pink, gray, and silver.
