At first look it may seem non-sensical, but it’s all true – Xiaomi has just officially released their latest budget device, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A. The Redmi 5A is officially priced at the sweet, sweet low price of CNY 600, the equivalent of only RM380!

For that ridiculously low-price, you get to enjoy these impressive specs (for that price):

  • 5-inch 720p display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB expandable storage
  • 13MP (f/2.2) main camera, 5MP (f/2.0) front camera
  • Hybridge dual-SIM slot
  • 3000 mAh battery capacity

There is a slight down-side to the Redmi 5A though; if you look closer at its general look and specs as compared with the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, you can see that there is almost no change from its predecessor. It will make no sense for anyone with a Redmi 4A to switch up to the Redmi 5A

Still, if the price is right I don’t think any one of you will complain that it is indeed a really affordable device. With its official release in China, we are expected to see the emergence of the Redmi 5A in the Malaysian market soon but no date at the or official Malaysian price at the moment.
