Just a few hours ago, Xiaomi has introduced their new entry-level lineup - Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A in China and everything about the new devices is as low-end as it is. The Redmi 6 is the superior variant of the Redmi 6A, which carries up to 4GB + 64GB memory while the latter is only using 2GB + 16GB memory.
As most new phones nowadays, the tech-specs may be low but the design looks quite good. Both the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A have an 18:9 aspect ratio but the IPS display is only 5.45-inch in HD+ 720p resolution. It's interesting to note that the Redmi 6A doesn't have a fingerprint sensor like the Redmi 6, so it's only using an AI Face Unlock.
Other than that, both share similar tech-specs and below are the full tech-specs:
Redmi 6
- 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 chip, 2GHz octa-core CPU
- 3GB and 4GB of RAM
- 32GB and 64GB internal storage (expandable memory available)
- 5.45-inch IPS HD+ display (720p)
- 12MP + 5MP dual rear camera, 5MP front camera
- Features AI Face unlock, Fingerprint sensor
- MIUI 10 OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo
- 3000mAh battery
Redmi 6A
- 12nm MediaTek Helio AP22 chip, 2GHz quad-core CPU
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB internal storage (expandable memory available)
- 5.45-inch IPS HD+ display (720p)
- 13MP primary camera, 5MP front camera
- Features AI Face unlock
- MIUI 10 OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo
- 3000mAh battery

The price tag for both is quite low as well, for the Redmi 6 3GB + 32GB model it's 799 Yuan (~RM497), the 4GB + 64GB mode gets 999 Yuan (~RM622) and lastly, the Redmi 6A is just 599 Yuan (~RM373).
Is Malaysia going to get it? Most probably yes, but we will have to wait for Xiaomi Malaysia's confirmation on that. So stay tuned for more Xiaomi news at TechNave.com.
