Xiaomi SU7 series passes certification & here's the first look of the company's first EV

It's no secret that Xiaomi researching and developing its own electric vehicle (EV). While it's ongoing, we got the news that the Xiaomi EV just got approved by CMITT (China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) and rendered images are revealed online. Apparently, it will be called the Xiaomi SU7 series.

In the Xiaomi SU7 series lineup, there will be three variants - the standard SU7, SU7 Pro and SU Pro Max. The designs for all three EVs are the same and the SU7 will have two models - BJ7000MBEVR2 and BJ7000MBEVA1 as a C-class sedan. The lineup is available with and without Lidar technology options, placed at the front windshield.

According to the certification online, the former has a United Automotive Electronic Systems single motor with a power of 220kW, equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries by FinDreams (associated with BYD). On the other hand, the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max are powered by 220kW and 275kW dual motors and packing Li-ion ternary batteries supplied by CATL.

In terms of measurements, the SU7 is 4997 (L) x 1963 (W) x 1455 (H) mm and has a wheelbase of 3000mm. In comparison, it's longer and wider than the Tesla Model 3. Then for the weight, it weighs 1980kg, while the other two models are heavier at 2205kg. We are also expecting Xiaomi's latest HyperOS to be integrated into the SU7 series system.

According to sources, the SU7 series is believed to begin mass manufacturing in December 2023 and shipped out by February 2024.
