Today, besides the official unveiling of the Xiaomi CC9 Pro smartphone, the company also showcased the Xiaomi TV 5 Pro which is equipped with quantum dot screen technology. Announced at ~RM2187, let's check out what are the highlight features and tech specs on this smart TV.

From the design, it looks like any other smart TVs nowadays but for the TV 5 Pro, its size is extremely thin measuring only at 5.9mm. In comparison, that's even thinner than a 2B pencil and iPhone 11. The bezels are also really narrow and this allows Xiaomi to maximize the screen panel fully. As mentioned earlier, the smart TV uses a quantum dot technology and that's definitely going to show amazing visuals.

Because quantum dots are fluorescent crystals with a diameter of less than 10nm, the technology emits light and colours differently without much digital enhancement. To complement the visuals, the smart TV also supports HDR10+, 8K decoding, colour gamut up to NTSC 108%, MEMC motion compensation (effectively reducing motion picture smear) and so on.

The TV 5 Pro has a built-in array microphone and supports voice command from a certain distance. Xiaomi demonstrated that the user can just call out Xiao AI to adjust the volume and change the channel without using the remote control. Oddly, they didn't mention anything about the speakers so we will just have to assume that it needs to be connected to other speakers for sound.

Xiaomi will be selling the TV 5 Pro in three variants - 55-inch for 3699 Yuan (~RM2187), 65-inch for 4999 Yuan (~RM2956), and 75-inch for 9999 Yuan (~RM5913). There's also the vanilla TV 5 model which doesn't use quantum dot technology, the 55-inch is 2999 Yuan (~RM1733), 65-inch for 3999 Yuan (~RM2364) and the 75-inch is 7999 yuan (~RM4730).

Xiaomi Malaysia is known for importing in Xiaomi home appliances, but it's unclear if they will do the same for the new TV 5 Pro and TV 5 lineup. We definitely think they should as smart TVs are quite popular in Malaysia, and Xiaomi's price is always affordable. Stay tuned for more Xiaomi news at TechNave.com.
