Entering the every crowding affordable market is the new Xiaomi Redmi 3s, the update to their earlier Redmi 3. The overall design is about the same, but it now has a better processor (Snapdragon 430) and a fingerprint scanner – all from only CNY 699 (~RM 434).

The body of the Redmi 3s is largely unchanged from the previous model, apart from the presence of the fingerprint scanner – making it one of the few sub-RM500 phones to have one. The octa-core Snapdragon 430 will go a long way in reducing any performance lag in daily use.

There will be two memory options – 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Both models will have a 13-megapixel rear-camera with an aperture of f/2.0, a single LED flash and phase detection auto focus. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel, f/2.2 selfie cam. A 4,100 mAh battery still runs the show and you get the typical set of connectivity options, like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS.

For the 2GB/16GB combo, it will be priced at CNY 699 (~RM434) while the 3GB/32GB combo will be CNY 899 (~RM558). No news when it will be in Malaysia, but stay tuned to TechNave for availability info soon.
