Today, Xiaomi just presented a new video teaser concept of a portless smartphone. At the moment, there's no official name so it's coined as the quad-curved waterfall display concept phone. It features an 88° curved edge display on all four sides.

Officially posted by Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun in Weibo, he said the concept phone has the ultimate screen experience where it eliminates the need for physical buttons, speaker grills and the audio jack. The concept phone uses ultra-thin piezoelectric ceramics to replace the speakers and audio jack, as well as having high-powered wireless charging technology, pressure-sensitive buttons, third-gen under-screen lenses and eSIM cards. While the CEO didn't exactly quote it but we believe that this is his vision for a portless phone.

Furthermore, he also mentioned that the glass is crafted by hot bending under 800° high temperature and high pressure. On top of that, a complicated polishing process was used to polish a four-sided hyper-curved glass. The most difficult part was overcoming the bending stress caused by the extreme bending angle and the extremely small bending radius.
