Be it a smartphone, tablet or laptop, all electronics need one key component to function - the battery. Battery tech has slowly been improving over the years, but there haven't been any significant breakthroughs for a long time. However, Xiaomi did announce something big in battery tech.
Yesterday, Xiaomi did just that by announcing a breakthrough in battery tech. The company used what it calls the "high-silicon lithium supplement technology" for smartphones. Allegedly, this battery has 3x more silicon, which increased the battery capacity by 10% and battery life by 100 minutes. Xiaomi will start to mass-produce this new battery in 2H 2022.
Besides the battery, Xiaomi has also redesigned its protection circuit module (PCM). By using a new 'MCP' design, Xiaomi was able to save a lot more space within a smartphone. As a result, manufacturers can make more room for other components. This gives them more leeway in terms of the layout of internal components.
For regular users like us, this technology could also result in smaller devices. Of course, that's just our speculation. What do you think? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
