Xiaomi has confirmed that a total of 31 smartphone models from the Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO brands will only receive the final major update via HyperOS 3 based on Android 15. So, what should you know about it?
No Android 16 updates for older devices
For your information, these devices will no longer get the Android 16 update after this update. According to XiaomiTime, HyperOS 3 is expected to be rolled out in phases starting in September 2025.
Additionally, HyperOS 3 could feature a new interface, more modern visuals, and enhanced smart functions. However, for the 31 devices listed, the update marks the end of support for the operating system from Xiaomi.

Moreover, this move is in line with the Android industry policy of typically providing 2–3 years of support for major operating systems before focusing on new models with more advanced specifications.
Although it will not receive Android 16, Xiaomi is expected to still provide security updates for a certain period to ensure the device remains safe to use.
